BOROUGHBRIDGE RES 0 BARDSEY 4
Bridge were looking to bounce back after last week’s disappointment and would have been rewarded for their early endeavours if the industrious Andy O’Hare had been able to keep his close range effort on target. It was then the turn of Bardsey’s Sam Cliff as he failed to take advantage of a one on one situation but on twenty one minutes the visitors had a piece of good fortune when Phil Streak’s effort took a deflection off the backtracking Tom Ekin to end up in the home net. Bridge’s response was positive and Martin Simpson was forced to scramble away a Mark Burniston effort and on another day they could have had a penalty but luck is in short commodity at the moment and on forty minutes they went further behind as Cliff punished a Paul Diamond. It did not get any better after the interval as Josh Yanac was given space and time to hit home the third and the downward spiral continued on 73 minutes when Ben Clark got the fourth. Although they lacked cohesion Bridge could not be carped at for their effort and would have scored the goal of the game from an excellent move but Paul Stephenson’s header to a superb Paul Smith cross was just off target.
