DALTON ATHLETIC 2 BOROUGHBRIDGE A 2
After pulling back a half time two goal deficit Bridge would normally have been happy with a point but there was a lot of self recrimination amongst the players at the end for their slipshod start and profligacy. The game was only seven minutes old when Dan Binks was left unmarked to convert a Matt Till corner and he was on target from the penalty spot twenty minutes later after Richard Balderson had been brought down. Bridge were creating their own problems but managed to regroup and steady the ship to half time. After the break Bridge managed to assert some authority on the game but found the home side quite happy to absorb the pressure and when chances came their way leading goal scorers Paul Scaife and Jake Fletcher missed some golden opportunities. On 65 minutes the industrious Steve Warburton got the deserved breakthrough as he curled a beauty into Paul Foster’s top corner from the edge of the box and six minutes later Tom Hepworth hit a low hard shot from a corner through a ruck of players for the equalizer. As Bridge pushed for the winner Chris Chapman, back in his more familiar role, had a header cleared off the line by Gary Foster and the Bridge Manager missed his chance of glory by volleying the rebound into the trees.
